Normalize cannabis use!
Before they had me, my parents used to be hippies… or something close to that.
They traveled the country in a van, which they also lived in at the time.
They might have kept on like that, except for they had a kid and decided to settle down like regular folks. The point of this is that I grew up in a household that was very liberal when it came to most things, including drinking and drugs. I was not allowed to do those things as a child, but my parents never demonized alcohol or cannabis. Instead they explained that cannabis and alcohol were both things that were normal for adults to use. The point of this story is that because they normalized cannabis and alcohol, I never had an issue with them. Some teenagers go wild as soon as they get their first chance and start using marijuana and other drugs, because they are so curious about the “forbidden fruit.” Imagine saying to people “cannabis will alter your perceptions and send you to a whole new realm of consciousness, so you should never do it!” Of course these kids will use cannabis ASAP to see what all the hype is about. Since my parents raised me to see cannabis as being normal, I was never tempted to try it until I was much older. As an adult I use cannabis often, and I love it, but I am so glad that my parents never made it feel weird. More parents should raise their kids to see cannabis as something that is normal.
