The guy didn't tell me he was in prison for three years

The background check did not give me any additional information about the crime, but I did a search online and found more details

When I have to perform a background check on employees that are going to work for the medical and recreational marijuana dispensary, I check everything in the applicant’s past. We check this state and we do a federal check to make sure that the employee is who they say they are. I had to hire a new budtender to work at the medical and recreational marijuana dispensary weekends. When I interviewed this particular applicant, the guy seemed very personable and nice. He knew a lot about marijuana and the industry. We sat and talked for almost 30 minutes. During the interview, I asked the guy if there was anything that might keep him from being able to work at the dispensary. I asked this question when we were talking about the section in the application where the employee is asked whether or not he has ever been convicted of a crime. The guy made a couple of jokes, but he told me that he had never been convicted of a crime. I thought the guy was going to be perfect for the job at the marijuana shop until I got back the criminal background check. The guy had not been convicted of any crimes in this state, but federally he did a couple of years in prison. The background check did not give me any additional information about the crime, but I did a search online and found more details. I absolutely cannot give that guy a job working at the marijuana shop. I have to find another candidate and that means a lot more interviews in the next couple of weeks.
