Budtender’s advice on edibles

I work as a budtender at a local medical marijuana dispensary.

Many people are unfamiliar with the concept of the budtender, but it really is just how it sounds. I assist people in finding the right cannabis products for them. One of the most frequently asked questions is “which edible is best for me?” Our dispensary carries a wide variety of edibles, so it can be difficult to decide which product will best suit you if you haven’t tried it before. In fact, our dispensary carries edibles in the form of gummies, chocolates, baked goods, and even drinks. I always ask the person what they intend to use the edible for. If they are using the edible as a sleep aid, they are going to want something with a higher dosage that is light. You wouldn’t want to eat a baked good before bed each night, so you would want to go for something like a lozenge or a gummy. Something like a drink can have a more mild effect and will allow you to maintain energy in a social setting. The one thing I recommend more than anything else is that you should always start with a low dosage and give the edible time to kick in before you take more. You can always take more, but you can’t go back and take less.
