A lot of cannabis criminals were released from prison

Medical marijuana had been on the ballot twice before the people of this state overwhelmingly voted to approve medical marijuana here! It only took 3 more years before recreational marijuana was on the ballot too; The people spoke out in huge numbers in addition to came out to vote in addition to the recreational marijuana bill was passed with seventy% of the voters saying yup, then after the law had been passed, a lot of things changed.

There was a clause in the law stating that all criminals who were in prison or jail for possession were going to be released from jail once the law passed. There were so many criminals doing time for minor drug charges, but people were getting 6 months up to a year in jail just for possessing a seventh of an ounce of marijuana. An ounce was considered trafficking in addition to carried a minimum five-year sentence. After you could buy an ounce of marijuana from the dispensary legally in addition to having it on your person, it was honestly strenuous to keep all of those people in jail. A lot of the criminals in the state jail were released at the same time. They flooded into the city at once. Every one of us have a dozen or so released convicts staying in the hotel where I work. They all have jobs, but they have to live here in the hotel because they can’t get an home due to their criminal record. I think the records should be expunged now that the crime is no longer on the books, however alas, that is not the way that the law was written in this state.
